The Ottawa Valley Section of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is sponsoring a special professional awareness event for Students at Carleton University on “What is Quality and what opportunities are available in the field of Quality as a profession”.

Volunteers from amongst the Members of ASQ Ottawa will acquaint students with the basic concept of quality. The speakers will talk about:

  1. Some of the quality systems and processes, such as – ISO, Six Sigma, Lean.
  2. How quality is employed in organizations and industries around the world.
  3. The professional resources that are required, and what this means to the students, who will soon enter the workforce.

The evening will start with a couple of short presentations providing a background on quality concepts, techniques, and tools, and the attributes that HR people look for when engaging quality resources.

In the end, there will be a panel discussion with representatives from organizations and industries explaining the types of resources they use, and how they are deployed. The speakers will cover manufacturing (aerospace), finance, and software development.
